Client Overview
The West Midlands Racial Justice Initiative is a Church of England-backed initiative working across six West Midlands dioceses to advance racial equity, dismantle systemic racism, and promote a more inclusive church. Guided by the From Lament to Action report and working in partnership with the National Church, WMRJi delivers projects, resources, microgrants, publications, and a podcast to support churches and communities across the region. They needed a new website to establish a proper digital presence for the initiative and serve the diverse range of audiences engaging with their work.

The Challenge
WMRJi was a new initiative launching with an important mission but no website to represent it. Key challenges included:

- Building a site from scratch for an initiative that serves multiple audiences, including church leaders, community members, grant applicants, and the wider public, all with different needs.
- The site needed to host and signpost a growing body of resources, publications, projects, and podcast content in a way that was easy to navigate and access.
- The tone and design needed to reflect both the seriousness of the mission and the warmth and inclusion the initiative stands for.

Our Approach
We built a clean, purposeful WordPress site structured around the initiative's core areas of work and the different audiences it serves.
- Designed a site that balanced authority and approachability, reflecting the gravity of racial justice work while remaining welcoming and accessible to all visitors.
- Structured the navigation and content architecture around the initiative's key pillars, projects, resources and publications, blogs and podcasts, and the Framework for Change.
- Built dedicated sections for resources and grant information, making it easy for community members and church partners to find what they needed quickly.

The Solution
The West Midlands Racial Justice Initiative now has a website that gives their important work a credible, accessible digital home. The site serves church leaders, community partners, and the wider public, with clear pathways to resources, projects, and ways to get involved. For charities, initiatives, and public sector organisations launching a new digital presence around a complex, multi-audience brief, this project is a good example of how clarity and considered design can make important work more accessible.
